 Machine Measurement

PSMotion offers a Measurement Service that is ideally suited to uncovering the root cause of packaging machine design problems or capacity bottlenecks. The tools can be used on site at packaging machine users and machine builders.
Our measurement tools can explore many aspects of a machine's performance: from capturing its complete dynamic behaviour to precise part measurement and examination of assemblies or parts.
Once we have rooted out a machine performance limitation we can also offer a design upgrade as a turnkey package.

Machine Measurement Tools:

Portable Coordinate Measurement Machine Arm (CMM)
There are many times that you want to know the precise geometric details of your assembled machine. Our portable CMM is directly linked with Solidworks so that it can recreate 3D models of your machine components and assemblies. Example uses include:
  • Confirm part dimensions and geometry
  • Reverse engineer virtually any machine component
  • Recreate 3D solid models and drawings
  • Compare "identical" machines
  • Check settings and adjustments
  • See a multitude of examples here

Machine Data Acquisition & Analysis (DAA)

Our high-speed data-acquisition tool is purpose designed to acquire and analyse motion data from packaging machines. This tool can be used to "fingerprint" a machine so that you can determineOther example applications include:

  • Detailed behaviour of machine mechanisms
  • Compare the actual dynamic motion of a mechanism to the intended or cam motion
  • Determine if the speed of a "constant" motor is fluctuating because of torque fluctuations
  • Compare "identical" machines

High Speed Video (HSV)
You can view your machine / material interactions with ease. You will be amazed at what your machine and packaging must put up with! Example uses include:
  • Examine machine / material interactions that can not be seen with the naked eye
  • Occasional machine jams by triggering the video capture from a PLC 5V signal
  • Compare behavior of machines at slow and high speeds.
