This
shows a filling machine with the cam mechanism moving the piston with a ramp type constant velocity
motion. The rotary valve motion is timed so that as the piston descends
liquid is sucked from the feed line and when the piston is driven upwards
the liquid is pumped to the containers. The mechanism pivot point can be
adjusted so that different amounts of liquid can be pumped for different
container sizes. The mechanism has the advantage that changes in the pivot
position do not distort the piston's motion.
