This shows a simple mechanism where a pusher is
loading a package from a line in feed into an indexing wheel.
The cams lifts the mechanism pusher over the space occupied
by the package at the in feed. In this way, the package can
be moved into position earlier than if the pusher only moved
left to right without the lift, therefore speeding up the machine.
Also, you might notice the pusher drops down nicely behind the
package so that the impact velocity with the package is very
low. This up, over and push motion is generated by a two axis
pantograph type mechanism. Each axis motion is generated by
a cam. This type of application can be designed more easily
with software capable of inverse kinematics.
