How to Edit the Unit Settings

MotionDesigner allows users to design motions using unit settings that are appropriate to their motion design requirements.
For example, some designers might want to chose inches, while others might choose an SI unit.  Also, the scale of the motion design might require different linear units, such as millimetres, centimetres, or metres.

The unit settings can be changed by using the Tools: Settings: Motion, and  or Right-mouse-click in the graph area and selecting Settings, or clicking the Settings icon from the Tools Toolbar.

X-Units
The X-Units are displayed along the bottom of the graphs.
Available Units of:   counts, sec, msec, cycles, degrees, radian

Y-Units
The Y-units are displayed to the left of the graphs.
The following options are available:

Position:  Linear Units:    mm, cm, m , inch
    Rotary Units:   degrees, radians, cycles
    Encoder Units:   counts

Velocity  If position is Linear unit, then: mm/s, cm/s, m/s, inches/s
If position is Rotary unit, then: degrees/s, radians/s, cycles/s
If position is Encoder unit then: counts/s

Acceleration If position is Linear unit, then: mm/s^2, cm/s^2, m/s^2, inches/s^2
If position is Rotary unit, then: degrees/s^2, radians/s^2, cycles/s^2
If position is Encoder unit then: counts/s^2

Jerk  If position is Linear unit, then: mm/s^3, cm/s^3, m/s^3 inches/s^3
If position is Rotary unit, then: degrees/s^3, radians/s^3, cycles/s^3
If position is Encoder unit then: counts/s^3

The following settings can be also changed for the graphs:
Tools: Settings: Motion: Motion Name Rename a motion.
Tools: Settings: Motion: Number Of Steps Change the number of points that are used to plot each graph (and saved)- default 360 points.
Tools: Settings: Motion: Cycles-per-Min This setting is important when designing motions for a cycling machine - Eg car engine.  Default is 60 cycles per minute
Tools: Settings: Motion: Secs per CycleThis is automatically updated if you change Cycles per Minute.
