By using the Insert Blend-Point At command, you can precisely insert a Blend-Point into the motion design so that an existing segment of width X becomes two segments with a total width of X.

The following dialogue appears:

The value along the X-Axis can either be typed in, or the spin boxes can be used.

The actual overall motion will not change - the motion appears to be the same as the existing one, but now there are two new segments that replace the original one.

The two new segments will have the same Segment Type as the original Segment Type.

Of course you can edit both of the new segments using the Blend-Point Editor panel, or the Segment Editor panel.
Very complicated motions can be built up using the Split Segment tool.

This is often used when the first part of a motion segment satisfies your motion requirements, but the second half doesn't - for example, the second half may meander (oscillate).  Splitting the segment and then independently editing the second half of the segment may allow you to solve the problem.

The alternative Insert Blend-Point command allows you to uses a mouse click to approximately locate an X-Value for the new blend-point.
