Models of Complete Machines - including all motions, cams, mechanisms, gears
You can build up mechanisms on different planes. Each mechanism can be driven by one or more motions and all motions can be reviewed and adjusted so that complete machines can be modeled. In fact, that is one of our goals, to model complete machines completely and quickly, with all of the motions, cams, mechanism and gears.
We believe that before you start designing your machine on your 3D CAD you should have a very good kinematic model of your complete machine. The motion design should be at an advanced stage, and using the simple solid generation you should have a pretty good idea of the forces and torque that will act on your concept machine. Also, the machine will have been laid out in quite a lot of detail with a good understand how you are going to layer your mechanisms. When this is done, then you start on your CAD design.
As the CAD design progresses, so you can refine your MechDesigner model continually improving motion and mechanism design.
When the machine is complete and built, you can then use MechDesigner to further improve motion design and machine performance.
