Gear trains can be modeled in MechDesigner using the Gear-Pair tool
Gears , or gear segments, can be combined into gear trains in myriad ways to achieve different effects from path generation to straight forward speed change. Gear pairs arranged sequentially can get very high reduction ratios or in parallel to make differentials or hypocycloid or more generally hypo-trochoid, epicycloid, epi-trochoid path generators.
The Gear-Pair tool in MechDesigner can be used to model just about any type of gear train arrangement from simple, compound, planetary, differential gears
Geared five-bar mechanisms are also useful for some amazing coupler curves and as powerful function-generators.
