You can model then let MechDesigner calculate the cam coordinates of just about every cam type, including: flat, groove, conjugate, as well as 3D Cams, such as Globoidal (Ferguson, Roller Gear Drives) and Barrel Cams, to name just a few.

Design and Manufacture Globoidal Cams
MechDesigner models Globoidal cams with complete accuracy.
Globoidal Cams combine great strength and stiffness with compactness. MechDesigner will calculate the Globoidal cam profile to machine accuracy (no approximations). The data can then be sent to SolidWorks directly. SolidWorks provides a STEP file for manufacture. We have tested the accuracy of the profile in SolidWorks - it is better than a micron. You can be confident that the complex surface of the Globoidal Cams is exactly as it needs to be.

Design and Manufacture Barrel Cams
Barrel Cam profiles can be calculated by MechDesigner
Any mechanism can be set up with a barrel cam driving it. Of course, the motion design can be done on the tooling that is being driven. The cam profiles are generated as a series of points representing a surface, the density of which can be specified. These can then be directly exported to SOLIDWORKS so that a complete cam can be generated in SOLIDWORKS by pressing 2 or 3 buttons.Read more >>>
