Motion Design Software
MotionDesigner is fully integrated into MechDesigner. Use MotionDesigner to design the motions for each mechanism in your model. It is truly a world-class motion design software tool. The Cam Laws provide you with more motion design flexibility than any other motion design tool. In addition to the standard motion laws, we also have special motion laws that are particularly suited to some mechanism configurations and packaging machine design needs.
You can apply the motion anywhere in your mechanism. At the tool, for forward kinematics, or at the cam-follower or servo-axis for forward kinematics - although we would always recommend inverse-kinematics.
Once you have plugged in the motion design in to your mechanism, you can analyze the motions and kinematics of all the parts in the mechanism, as well as forces, of course.
In the motion design software, we join segments, end-to-end, to create a motion. Motion options are available at each segment for all the important motion derivatives - which might be position, velocity, acceleration and jerk. Motion Laws are designed specifically to improve the performance of movements in packaging machines. These are sometimes referred to as Cam Laws for Cam and Follower Mechanisms: e.g Modified Sinusoid, Modified Trapezoidal, Polynomial 3-4-5, Polynomial 4-5-6-7. Of course, the same laws can be applied to servomotor motion design.
Edit the Motion and the mechanism and cam update immediately - in real-time.
So, for example, if you move a segment node in MotionDesigner to a different position, the cam-profile that is implementing that motion will immediately update and any cam data plotted in a graph will also update. This gives great power for optimizing motion design if you need to check cam details like pressure angle or undercutting.Read more >>>
Motion Laws and Cam Laws
MotionDesigner has a full set of Motion Laws and Cam Laws.
MotionDesigner includes many different Motion-Laws (Cam-Laws). You can blend the Cam-Laws to make sure the motion is continuous in position, velocity, acceleration, and, if necessary, jerk. In packaging machine design, it is extremely important to design the motion of every mechanism as smoothly as possible . Make complex, multi-segment motions by inserting and appending segments of any law

Motions can be built using only part of segment
Sometimes only part of a standard cam law is required for a multi-segment motion design. This can be easily done in MotionDesigner. The start and end of a cam law can be specified. Other laws depending on their flexibility will provide continuity if they can.Read more >>>
